Happy Aloha Friday!
Last week, we talked about the hunger and fullness scale and how it can be used to check in with your body. To wrap up the month, I would like to remind you that there’s no right or wrong way to listen to your own body’s cues! We want to stay away from perfectionistic thinking and practice a flexible way of viewing the signals our body gives us.
It can be helpful to relate the hunger and fullness cues from your body to the other signals your body sends you. For example, your body lets you know when you need to go to the bathroom and when you need to get some sleep.
There is no perfect level you need to reach before you are allowed to take care of those needs, and this is the same for eating.
We simply want to build awareness so that we can get to know our own unique cues (this will be different for everyone!). That’s why it’s important to nourish yourself consistently as you learn more about your own body. It will take time to befriend your body and learn from it, but the more you do, the easier and more carefree it will become!
