Finding the Satisfaction Factor

Happy Aloha Friday!

Continuing on our topic of hunger and fullness, it’s true that you can eat to a level of physical fullness and still not feel content and satisfied! This week, I want to stress the importance of eating meals that you enjoy and that satisfy you. You deserve to feel like you had “enough” and can focus on things other than food.

When we don’t eat to feel satisfied, this can lead to us feeling deprived no matter what or how much we eat. What do you need to feel satisfied? Eating foods that bring you pleasure and taste good can help you truly feel content after eating. Remember, this isn’t a trick to get you to eat less - we aren’t implementing satisfaction to stop before we are full. It’s okay to feel full AND satisfied!

I also want to mention that it’s okay if you’re not satisfied by every meal! Every single thing you eat doesn’t have to sound perfect – this is okay. Sometimes, we need to eat foods that we don’t enjoy to make sure that we are consistently eating enough.

This week, I challenge you to think about the types of foods and food groups that are most satisfying to you. Be sure to add those foods to your meals/snacks this week and see how this impacts how you feel throughout the day!
