Happy last Aloha Friday of 2021!
Wow, it has been a crazy year! Between COVID, moving to Wisconsin and starting my private practice, I feel like I have aged 10 years. I know you all are expecting a “New Year New Me” email encouraging you to set goals for 2022, but instead I want to take time to look back on 2021.
I want you to close your eyes and think about where you started this year. What did your relationship with your body look like? What did your relationship with food look like? How was your quality of life? Did you feel like you had the support you needed to recover?
Now I want you to think about where you are today. Look at how far you have come. You fought hard this year for recovery, and you put yourself first. It wasn’t perfect, it wasn’t always pretty, but you are still here and still fighting and I want to commend you for that.
Taking care of yourself and choosing recovery is the hardest and the most important thing that you will ever do for yourself. So I am here to tell you to keep going and to keep challenging your eating disorder.
I wish all of you a Happy New Year and hope you all go into the New Year with a fresh batch of self compassion, hope and love.
