Happy Aloha Friday!
I’m back again to bust the movement myth that claims, “You should work out everyday”.
As many of you probably know, this is absolutely not true! Setting such a rigid rule to work out everyday takes the focus away from your body, and puts the power right into your eating disorders hands.
Just like we want our relationship with food to be intuitive, we want it to be intuitive for our bodies as well. This means that we choose a workout that feels good in our body and that we enjoy. We stop doing movement that feels like a punishment. It also means that we are adequately fueling our body, and allowing ourselves to rest on days where we aren’t properly fueled or our body is telling us no.
This can be challenging to do at first, but it all starts with setting an intention. If that intention is to change our body, then it is important we skip it. If the intention is to make our body strong and feel good, then (with treatment teams input) go for it!
